Lassi

Ayurveda considers buttermilk medicinal. It is easy to digest and very cooling in the summer season. Lassi is a probiotic for the gut, rekindles the digestive fire (agni) and soothes the system. Its important to note that even though Lassi is made from yogurt it has completely different qualities and effect on the body. While yogurt is considered heavy and slightly heating, harder to digest, blocks the body's channels that carry oxygen, bodily fluids, blood, plasma. Causes bloating and lethargy. Lassi is the opposite it is cooling, opens the channels and increases energy while supporting digestion.

If you don’t have buttermilk, lassi can be prepared by using 1 part yogurt and 4 parts luke warm water. Blend the mixture until it froths well. Using a cotton cloth strain the mixture. This is your buttermilk equivalent.
